That’s the old saw, right? The folks checking out the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, in Harbin, China will almost all have warm hearts, then. I’ve always been fascinated by the ice hotels and whatnot, but I’d never heard of this festival until just recently. Here are some photos from the 2008 Harbin festival to keep you entertained.

Well, Ok….not really. This shark is already dead. “What’s cool about a dead shark?” you ask? I am SO glad you asked! The Auckland Museum in New Zealand will be streaming the necropsy of a great white shark live, this Thursday, 11a-1pm NZ time. I’m terrible at math, but I think this translates to 5pm-7pm Eastern on Wed, as in tomorrow. But don’t quote me on that.

Domino tricks are cool. Pool trick shots are cool. Combine the two and it’s simply too cool for words.

Some of you may have seen Carson Williams’ Christmas Light Display before. If not, the video is certainly worth watching! The coolest thing about this, though, is that Carson managed to turn his cool but rather modest Christmas light display into a career.

So, tomorrow is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. Some ancient religions marked the winter solstice as the beginning of the new year, as the sun begins its journey back towards the north along our eastern horizons. Many of those ancients constructed primitive calendars that enabled them to mark the solstices and equinoxes as they happened.
